Life in the Little Things

We spot him yesterday.  Lost. Alone. Without mom…or home. Littlest furry fellow. Easily unseen. Laying estranged, in properties path.

The lost one. Forgotten. Littlest unforgotten…easily missed. Gathering him in loving arms. To Nestle him. Comfort him.

We also spot, a centipede. Pencil stroke long. Crawling across the sun dried ground.

To some, invisible.  To others strange.  But to the seer…a remarkable thing.

Life passes, time flees, like a stranger running from yesterdays dreams.

Disneyland.  Adventures. Amusement Parks.  Circus’.

Yet, I wonder…Will beauty, true beauty…things really missed…lie in the little insignificant pieces. Pieces of creation.  The strange. Unseen.

A touch.  A kiss. Love’s gentle smile. Belly filled laughter. The quiet patter of tiny feet.

Stories told.  Books read. Kids nestled safe in mama’s beds. Lessons shared in nursery rhymes. Melodic birds during summers rise.

The restoring.
     The learning.
The getting up after really hurting.

The tough things.

Defeating doubt. Restoring hope. The strength to rise, when life envelopes everything you have know…shown…believed in.

The frail hands of the elderly dying. The kindness of a stranger. Giving to the needy, without them knowing. Handouts to the homeless especially when undeserving.

Walks with loved ones. Long talks after sun lies dormant. Summer’s warm breeze. The waving trees when lightening strikes & lights go out.

The caterpillar…and it’s miracle of metamorphosis. The depth of the sea. The taste, look, & smell of foreign lands.

The holding of a babies hand….or a frail one…or a loved one in uncertain times. The embrace after distance gathers after a loved one parts.

A call from those not seen. Kind words.  Encouragement.  A sermon of hope….The still of the earth.

What will I remember most?

I am guessing…not the loud parades or thunderous ways of man.  Or the fiery whistle blowers or even attractive, charismatic people. Likely not the influencer or influencee. The bombs of war or slamming doors.  Or those that ignore thoughts, words.  Heart cries unheard.

But the hope.
     The truth.
The fleeting, tiny, insignificant beauties…of today.

The little things….

What will you remember most?
