Why You Can’t Just Sit On The Sidelines

Today is orphan Sunday.

Do you remember when YOU were an orphan? Before you met Christ?  When you walked in darkness?  Without hope or a family?

I do.
And it makes me rejoice even more that I am adopted into the Kingdom of God!  All glory be to our precious Savior!
So, please, celebrate with me.  And ask…
“What can I do….to live out his call.  Taking care of the widows and the orphan?”

(Please watch the video below.
It highlights the true fate of many kids orphaned…
And those trapped in our foster care systems.)

But, why?
So, why do we care for the orphan?  Is it guilt or pity?  Is the some Messianic Complex saying that we are God….and we can save the world?
No!
We spend ourselves, expend ourselves, stretch ourselves, and give of ourselves….out of the overflow of his grace abounding in us….
…..From the glorious understanding of a small part of what God did for us!  When we “get” it….we can’t help but touch, love, & serve those he puts in front of us.  Who is God burdening your heart for today?
(Francis Chan on Orphan Sunday,
speaking about “Why” we do what we do….
in 1:51 minutes.)

Well worth watching
