The Spirit of Life

My Grandmother died.  When I was a child. The day she was buried, I saw a white, feathered creature rise from a fountain nearby. Not sure if what I was seeing was right….but at the time….

It was so real.

I was taken back.  Surprised.

Eyes fixed on this larger than life creation of God….

Risen to life.

And yet, I see…..The Word.  Another white bird not rising, but descending…upon my Lord and Savior.

The Holy Spirit.

And many fear The Spirit.  Because some have tried…..to paint this Hollowed Creature other colors than white.
            Decorating Him how we like……
                                             Putting Him in a cage….
Or tethering Him up….so we can fly Him around on stage.

But the Holy Spirit cannot be contained.

Yet, when He soars to places we have never known…..many, alarmed….because of the unknown.

And yet, represented in this small, fragile creator…..Jesus testifies….

Is power from on High for all His people.

And this bird.  We have tainted it’s picture.  Given it our song.  Seen it as unholy….

Though the Word is never wrong.

“Holy” Spirit.

Calling us into all truth.  Never aligned with anything that tarnishes and pollutes.

Pure.  White. Clean from corruptible sources.

And I am drawn to His Spirit.

Like the bird in the fountain.

As a child. When my grandma died.

And yet, in death….

We most clearly find….

The seed to all life.

  2. Ells – I think you must be led by His Spirit as we had the same theme today in our posts (just stopped by yours and read)….the seed of sacrifice leading to a life resurrected in Christ. So beautiful. Thanks for sharing with me. Always Blessed by you ~ jen

Judy – I am so sorry about your Aunt. It’s hard I think for some to see, this side of heaven, the “new life” that people like your pastor talks about….but amen that it’s ours for the taking! And one day, we will all rejoice in this eternal life together!
What a great joy and comfort!

    Your friend ~ jen
