Talking Boots

What if you could speak.  Well worn ones?  What if you could tell me of the miles that you have tread?

The weight of holding Love Eternal…down paved roads…heavy loads.

Working dawn endlessly.

The places you have been.  The stories of people…..How Dear One always takes the time to stop for people.  Talk to people. Pray with people. Give to people.

Strangers….on the streets.

The life you have been giving to…

The Faithful One.

Dependable One.

Persistent One.

Laboring….for families sake.  Early morning to mid-day.

Dark.  Stillness.  Rising…before sun wakes.

Strapped on to Husband’s legs.  Holding him, protecting Him from weather’s pain….like I so hope to do.

The surety of your sole…holding The One with great soul.  Hearing and knowing….the way He seeks.  Listens.  Prays….while driving along…

Oh, if I could just be there…hear it….see it.  The silent one. With him. Listening.

Coveted one….receiving whispers of sweet prayers as they fall down from his mouth, like rain…..in early morn.

And yet, the beauty in….the quiet you have known.

While, many grumble. Squabble. Argue….

You hold my Silent Worker.

Stomping pavement. Persistent. Diligent.

Faithful One.

Never complaining.

Refusing to exchange, hard work for grumbling…ever.

You broken ones….How long will you belong here? In our home. Until you too are gone.

And you also get replaced.  Life’s labor insisting.  Leather giving.  Soul splitting.

While He remains…

You too exchanged…to make way for more.  Another pair….

Of Fortunate Ones.  One’s receiving honor.  The pleasure…hour upon hour….of holding….

Faithful One.

The one I love.
