Are You A Mountain Dreamer?

Many very dear friends are struggling with deep, heartbreaking, life-changing hurt. You too?

Yet, as I weigh those I love, I am thankful, these people aren’t empty or superficial, shallow or fake.

  • They are friends who live from their core and know the highs and lows, winding and sometimes difficult journey they tred.
  • They ask questions, live with passion, aren’t afraid to step where others might shrink from.
  • They are wise and seasoned, yet young in spirit. They are faith giants really, not timid in confronting or dwelling where others might never have stepped foot.

And as I look back on my life, I realize the courageous, brave, and most authentic of souls are the kind of people my heart has always turned to….

Not the shallow or empty, not those concerned with their own arrogance, or their own insecure superficiality…

But the dreamers, the dare-ers, those journeying a thousand miles and yet still taking on this adventure with dignity and courage.

Please take a second to sit down and read this beautiful exert posted by a friend.

Let these words grip you. Let this idea that running and hiding, blaming or projecting, turning to the world’s promises will never grow you, strengthen or change you.

Friends, afterall….

  • Isn’t it when we sit in the valleys of our own souls with honestly and humilyt…that is when life most grows us?
  • Isn’t it in the rain, where the truth of His grace meets us, where the rainbow of His goodness and promises are revealed to us?
  • Isn’t it usually the brave souls that find rest, know true peace, experience deep joy, and the power of His presence?

Isn’t it the ones who hold on, let hardships strengthen them….The ones who do the hard work of knowing themselves, who step deep and wide and ultimately leave footprints on this land with a legacy unending?

Won’t you stop, sit down, and let these words sink into you. They are the truth I live my. And it is my prayer, they will guide you on your journey as well…

The Invitation

“It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing.

It doesn’t interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn’t interest me what planets are squaring your moon. I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by life’s betrayals or have become shrivelled and closed from fear of further pain.

I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it, or fade it, or fix it.

I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own; if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, be realistic, remember the limitations of being human.

It doesn’t interest me if the story you are telling me is true. I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself. If you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul. If you can be faithful and therefore trustworthy.

I want to know if you can see Beauty even when it is not pretty every day. And if you can source your own life from its presence.

I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine, and still stand at the edge of the lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, ‘Yes.’

It doesn’t interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up after the night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone and do what needs to be done to feed the children.

It doesn’t interest me who you know or how you came to be here. I want to know if you will stand in the center of the fire with me and not shrink back.

It doesn’t interest me where or what or with whom you have studied. I want to know what sustains you from the inside when all else falls away.

I want to know if you can be alone with yourself and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments.”
