Unconvential……At last!

Unconventional.

Somehow.  Someway.  For some reason…..

God uses the unconventional.

The out of the box kind of life….and living…..and faith.

How the blind man was asked to put mud on his eyes……

To get healed.

Jesus put his fingers inside another one’s ears & spit on the tongue for a deaf man to speak….

clearly.

Women’s meeting.  Yesterday.

God spoke to my friend…..

:“Everyone needs to move from comforts seats”.

And how hard it is for people to shift…..from comforts seats…..well worn.

Grown.  Know.  Loved….Comfortable.  For so long….over time.

Yet, women did…..begin to shift….their seats into a circle.

And we prayed….like in China.

Hands held.  Hearts aligned.

And my friend and I didn’t stand up in strength and great power and might, to preach…..

We simply sat on a stair….

Instead of towering over the crowd.

Instead of holding a microphone and shouting real loud….

To proclaim what God did.

And I love the posture……God chose……..below the crowd.

And how the greatest works of God’s hand are often done….below the crowd.

So we tell it all….like God instructed….without a microphone.

The meetings.  The church.  The orphans.

The call to us all…..to live outside the box.

We tell……how our trip wasn’t planned and orchestrated….

Piece by piece….or detail by detail……by any human hands.

Just two women.  Weak. Needy.  Led by His Spirit….

Following the God call to go…..

And went.

And how it was so beautiful!

How the God hand led us and took care of every detail….

And how the follow.  The faith walk.  The daily trust…..

Opened the door……for grace, so sufficiently, to fall upon us.

And we are thankful.

And how we were instructed to speak upon “glory”….before the crowd….about our missions trip.

Yet, “glory” is not razzle and dazzle….appeasing crowds…..with grandiose notions……

At least not according to what we experienced…..

“Glory resides in the humble”……I said……

“Glory resides in the broken……the contrite……the least of these.”

And how Jesus….our example…….of God power….

Lain down in a manger…..and searched out the weak.

Yet, He raised the dead and healed the sick.

And for this, I am thankful……

As we slowly turn away….from His testimony of grace……

And how, our humble, gracious, unconventional Savior…..

Did it all…..

Through us….

Of little faith.

For this….I am thankful.

  1. Oh, how I would have loved to have been in the crowd and hear all about your trip. When we step back and let God direct our paths, we don’t have to stress the turns because He holds the guidebook for our lives.

  2. Jen…to be part of that circle would have been such blessings…love the posture…how it should be…low…
Blessing as you continue sharing God’s Glorious ways…

  3. Jen,

I am pleased that your visit to China was a good success.
Reading your words and it is easy to understand how God does indeed prefer to be ‘outside the box’ too. To be available to everyone who may be seeking his help and seeking to find him.
Thank you for your very special Blog of refuge.
    Best wishes, Eileen ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Love this: Glory resides in the humble.

Because when we are humble, God can really shine through this, capturing the glory for Himself. Amen.
