Have You Found True Love? UNITE Linky

I ask Him what love is this morning. And I hear His whisper…

Love is letting His Spirit work freely, looking into people and seeing them completely.

Love is giving Him the reigns in each situation and speaking His words of grace, truth, and mercy.

Love forgives freely, declares purposes boldly, showers His Spirit over each situation.

anclaLove can be silence, simplicity, quiet listening.

Love also takes action and lives a life of deliberate purpose.

Love covers and reaches, helps, and heals people.

Love is a bridge to those needing redemption.

Love steps in faith, floods with goodness, hold onto hope, and clings to His goodness.

Love breaks every chain.

Love is demonstrated by how He gave His life willingly for the sake of our salvation.

Love carries itself with confidence, doesn’t cower, doesn’t back away from difficult circumstances.

Love is the breathe of God guiding our footsteps.

Love, is His power.

Love never fails.

Love covers over a multitude of sins.

Those who have been forgiven much, love much.

Though the storms may rage, the anchor holds firm….

Love has already won.

God is love.

Love doesn’t do what’s easiest, but what’s best for the other person.

Beloved, let us [unselfishly] love and seek the best for one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves [others] is born of God and knows God [through personal experience].

The one who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love. [He is the originator of love, and it is an enduring attribute of His nature.] (1 John 4:7-8)

If I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it does me no good at all.

Love endures with patience and serenity, love is kind and thoughtful, and is not jealous or envious.

Love does not brag and is not proud or arrogant.

It is not rude; it is not self-seeking, it is not provoked [nor overly sensitive and easily angered]; it does not take into account a wrong endured.

It does not rejoice at injustice, but rejoices with the truth [when right and truth prevail].

Love…

  • Bears all things [regardless of what comes]
  • Believes all things [looking for the best in each one]
  • Hopes all things [remaining steadfast during difficult times]
  • Endures all things [without weakening].

Love never fails [it never fades nor ends] (1 Cor 13:3-8)

  1. Thank you for that image of the anchor. I love the truth that I am anchored in Him, and it’s not because I’m holding on perfectly, but because I am anchored in His strong promises!

    1. Michele – That anchor. Reminds me of Hebrews 6:19, “This hope [this confident assurance] we have as an anchor of the soul [it cannot slip and it cannot break down under whatever pressure bears upon it]—a safe and steadfast hope that enters within the veil [of the heavenly temple, that most Holy Place in which the very presence of God dwells]”

      Such good stuff!

  2. Jen, I loved this statement, “Love doesn’t do what’s easiest, but what’s best for the other person.” I think if we all lived by Phil. 2.3-4 this world would be a very different place!

Love truly does overcome. It’s the greatest weapon on earth! Thanks for not just writing about love, but demonstrating it through your life. It strikes me that from the glimpses I’ve had, you do a very good job of that!

    Thanks for hosting!

  3. Beautiful reminder that love is not always easy BUT it always yields a harvest for love will never fail. The four bullet points at the end are so powerful to think on! Blessings today!

    1. Joanne – Bears, believes, hopes, endures all things. Oh the power of scripture. And yet, how contrary the Biblical description to the world’s description on love can be.

Yes, that our love would be more than mere words, but truly baring visible fruit others can see! Love you friend!

  4. Beautiful reminder of what love is. It isn’t for the faint-hearted. It’s isn’t always fluffy feeling and sweet. Sometimes it is a five sensory battlefield experience – because it never gives up. You say this: “Love doesn’t do what’s easiest, but what’s best for the other person” – and sometimes that isn’t pretty and it isn’t hard – but out of it grows something beautiful and sweet! Thanks, Jen!

    1. Friend – “It isn’t always fluffy feelings and sweet”. Amen! Ain’t that the truth! Love is so much more than about US. Love is about doing the hard work, loving in a way that doesn’t always feel good and presses in, even when it might be easier to just give up.

My husband and I always say, love isn’t about doing what’s easiest, or what WE want…but it’s about doing what’s best for the other person!

His Great, sacrificial Love….what a wonderful example to us! Thanks for joining us at UNITE!

  5. Love is!! Funny, I just finished a guest post about what love looks like in parenting. It’s not always pretty, but it digs in and does what it must for the betterment of the other person!
Love this and so thankful to have connected with you recently!
    Blessings and smiles,
    Lori
