Rising Above the Clouds

A wish to rise.

A wish to rise is not enough.

We wait.

Anticipate, the storms to break.  The rain to stop.

We watch, the light come forth.

We hope, tomorrow will have hope…more than today.

But a song is heard in clashing thunder, in lightening strikes, in a a child’s wonder.

And we wait, for temperatures to cool.

To be soothed, before we go out, with backpacks, and pennies, and puppies underarm.

We pursue the storm with faith that as the eagle soars, the rain will pass.

That light will stream forth, as we make our way up, beyond calamity, hesitancy, resistance that strikes around every bend.

We wait.

But maybe, just maybe, the stillness is waiting for us.

Maybe the heavens will rattle when we take the first step.

Forth.  Toward.  Onward.  In face of fear.

The distance near dwindles the doubt.

……when we pound down the runway with child-like feet, with strength so meek, with humility in knowing that it is not us that makes the planes rise.

The sun break.

The stars dance.

Maybe, when we know.  Really know, who it is that touches the heavens and make them dance……Fills us with chance.

Then, we become small.

And our smallness is safe, cuddled in the arms of one greater than us.

A Creator who holds the world in His hands.

The Maker of all lands.

The one who satisfyingly lets us rest in uncertainty, fear, wonder with weak knees.  In order to bring forth light from us.

Hope that rises on wings like eagles.  Up.  Up.  Away.

Into the heavens that has all view.  When we are through with waiting.  The game of anticipating.

And just step out where……fear must flee.

Demons cease.

And eyes are where there should be, on Him….not me!
